Mel knows absolutely nothing about this party (except the fact that it's happening!) so please do all you can to keep it secret! Have no hesitation in lying about what's going on if asked. Popular responses are:

Please try and arrive as close to 19:30 as possible on the 25th. John will be bringing Mel along to the party for about 20:00, and it would be great to have everyone there to present the standard issue cheer of 'Surprise!' as she enters the room.
The theme for the party is a secret agent's ball. Basically, you should come dressed in secret agent style for example a little black dress for the ladies or a tuxedo for the gents. If you're feeling adventurous, how about a chineese style dress, or a wetsuit?

Party food will be served, but it's probably worth having a meal before you arrive!
There will be a limited amount of champagne for the first arrivals to the party. Please bring a bottle of what you'd like to drink for the rest of the night!
There will be a disco and the party will finish at midnight.
